On the 4th July, Black Cat Productions travelled to the Birmingham Literacy Escape Festival, with our Events Co-ordinator, Samuel, spending the day surrounded by books, authors, and the wonderful writing community.

As always, networking was one of the highlights of the day. Samuel enjoyed catching up with familiar faces, meeting new authors, and, of course, returning home with a few more books for the ever-growing Black Cat bookshelf!

While we thoroughly enjoyed supporting the event, we also believe in being honest. As the day went on, the venue became incredibly warm, and the author area felt quite congested, making it difficult at times for visitors to move comfortably between tables. We felt that a little more space between exhibitors would have made the experience even better for both authors and attendees.

Our signed author, Molly Jade, also attended independently as a reader and had some wonderful conversations with incredibly welcoming authors. While she experienced a couple of less positive interactions, these were very much the exception. The overwhelming majority of authors were kind, generous with their time, and a fantastic reminder of what makes the indie community so special.

It was another valuable day for Black Cat Productions, filled with new connections, great conversations, and plenty of inspiration for the journey ahead.
